One of my longest relationships in the wine business is with Richard Boer. We met in 1995 at Chalone, where Richard has been the vineyard manager since 1992. This 2022 Boer Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from Richard's own property, which is surrounded by Chalone Vineyard. I have always fermented the Boer Pinot with 100% whole clusters, a traditional Burgundian technique. This leads to ageworthy Pinots that are a bit shy in their youth. It is definitely worth allowing this to develop for a few years in the cellar. The drinking window should be from 2026-2035.
