Product Description

The only new property in the Sandler 2018 line up is the Nolan Syrah Vineyard in the Bennett Valley of Sonoma County.  Ken Hunt is the owner and farmer of Nolan.  He also happens to be the man who has delivered more grapes to us in San Francisco than anyone, as Ken works as a grape hauler during the harvest season.  Nolan is just a short distance from the Connell Vineyard, from which Sandler produced Bennett Valley Syrah for 8 different vintages between 2005 and 2015.  This wine is very similar to those in that it's the same appellation and climate, with similar soil.  It was also fermented with 100% whole clusters, just like all of the Connell Syrahs.  Because of the whole cluster fermentation, the 2018 Nolan Syrah has some significant tannin to resolve.  Lay this down in the cellar until 2021 and enjoy this through at least 2030.  The aromas of the Bennett Valley are intriguing, as well as the meaty, savory quality to the fruit.
